Jiang Qin, courtesy name Gongyi, was from Shouchun in Jiujiang. He crossed east with Sun Ce, was used because he would fight, and under Sun Quan rose to a guard command on the river. He was in the army at Red Cliffs. In 219 he went with Lü Meng to take Jing Province.

When Sun Quan told Lü Meng to study, he named Jiang Qin in the same class of fighting officers. Jiang Qin later bent to learning as well. He died of illness at the end of Jian’an. Sun Quan mourned him in plain clothes and assigned the revenue of two hundred households to his wife.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms

In the novel Jiang Qin’s name mostly appears on march lists. He rarely has a speech of his own. The study story is given almost entirely to Lü Meng. Jiang Qin’s use in the book is to show that Jiangdong was not only Zhou Yu and Lu Su.
