Total War: Three Kingdoms was developed by Creative Assembly and released in 2019. It places the series’ campaign map and large-scale battles in the last decades of the Han, with lords from around 190.
The game splits the experience on purpose. Romance mode lets characters behave more like the novel’s champions. Records mode lowers the single fighter and makes units and supply matter. The split points the same way as this site’s romance and history. Neither mode is Chen Shou or Luo Guanzhong. Unit types, diplomacy, and victory conditions are designed. What the game does usefully is show that the same map can be told two ways.
