Records of the Three Kingdoms
Quan Cong, courtesy name Zihuang, was from Qiantang in Wu commandery. His father Quan Rou was already in service under Sun Ce. As a young man Quan Cong gave out the family’s rice to scholars and made a name. Sun Quan promoted him and married him to his daughter Sun Luban.
In 219, while Guan Yu besieged Fan and Xiangyang, Quan Cong memorialized that Wu could take Jing Province. That is the same year as Lü Meng’s plan. He later fought Wei and served on the Shu border. He died of illness in 249. In the last years of Wu the Quan clan grew powerful through Sun Luban. That was after his death.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
The novel gives the proposal to seize Jing mostly to Lü Meng. Quan Cong’s memorial is a passing line, or it is folded into Lü Meng’s plan. Sun Luban has more scenes among the princesses in the later chapters. Quan Cong, as her husband, rarely acts alone.
