Guandu was a crossing and a line of camps near a canal. Yuan Shao came south from Ye. Cao Cao came north from Xu. They faced each other for months. Wuchao, off to the side, held the grain.
Calling Guandu a street fight under the walls of Xuchang misplaces the map. Xu is the political center. Guandu is the military contact. Modern Zhongmou keeps names tied to the war. Which mound is the exact camp is not something this page should pretend to have dug up.
