Baidi was Yufu. Liu Bei renamed the county Yong’an. It holds the western mouth of the gorges. A Shu army going east, or a defeated army falling back from Jing, passes here.

The charge of 223 was given in Yong’an Palace. The Records contain the words between Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang. The novel fills the room. It does not invent the place. Zhuge Liang’s government sat at Chengdu and Hanzhong, not in this fortress.
